“Yvette’s extensive health care experience working to create and implement transformative public policy is a perfect complement to Avenue Solutions’ strategic policy and political expertise,” said Tracy Spicer, founding partner for Avenue Solutions, in a statement.  “We’re so thrilled to have Yvette joining our team.”

Fontenot recently left the Department of Health and Human Services, where she was deputy director of the Office of Health Reform. She also worked as senior policy director in the White House Office of Health Reform, where she helped to implement the Affordable Care Act.

Fontenot has also held several positions on Capitol Hill, including as a professional staff member for the Senate Finance Committee under Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) where she helped develop the healthcare reform law.

Avenue Solutions is a growing lobby firm, having earned $3.2 million in lobbying fees last year, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Lobbying disclosure records show that the firm represented major healthcare interests, like Aetna, Express Scripts and UnitedHealth Group, in 2012.
